  1. Your paint is beautiful John!!!!! You are a great teacher. I also like the rooster in the background. it makes me feel close to nature. I love plain air, the inspiration of the beautiful world that we live in.

  2. Love this one. I think I will try it. Is Lamp Black like a very dark grey? That's the only one I don't have so thought I would try and mix it. Also what did you say about the water at 4:26? Are you thinning the paint?

    1. yes you can use the primary colors to mix to create dark color almost like black. I am using water to thin the paint or make it fluid. If it's hard to flow in canvas.

  3. Great painting and tutorial, John. Do you use reference photos for your paintings? If you do, where do you take them, and how do you get inspired and decide what to paint?
My biggest problem is I can go for hours browsing through photos on the internet, and I can't decide what to paint:)

    1. Hello Michael.. thank you.. No I didn't use any reference photo for landscape paintings. I only used reference if it's an animal or human figure or some other object that i am not familiar with.

I just think of what I feel to paint and I composed it on my mind. Then I try to sketch for more visualization.

You can think of what will make you inspire. A place, an object, an animal or anything that will inspires you.

    1. I don't have specific brands of my brushes, I have daler-rowney and best buy... I used synthetic mostly...

  4. I have no problem with the rooster in the background and it would be fun if you added the rooster in this painting! This is my next painting to learn. Thanks John!

    1. you're welcome... all noises were accidentally recorded. Some noises were not really good. Like kids shouting and other unnecessary things. That's why I decided to clean it all on my new videos.

  5. I love you tutorial..so far I make 1 painting...the house on the hill..I like to try the misty bamboo forest and off course this one too..thanks so much for you effort...

  7. can you paint for me?? if yes, here are the details...
Two far mountains and one near mountain...a river with a bridge...on the right side of the river is a rice field and on the other side is a a little house with a barn behind it...at the side of the house is an acacia tree... hope you can make it for me...thank you😁😁

    1. greetings from the nature isle of Dominica my brother you are very good,an with that you are humble and polite, that is, a very good quality, keep it up.thanks for sharing.

    2. I am planning to create an interactive painting tutorials... maybe you can suggest that. I cannot do tutorials as detailed as you described. It may take me 2 or more hours in one video. I only limit myself on a 1 hour video tutorial. I'm sorry... Maybe on interactive painting tutorial I can do this one.

  8. I like to hear him speak and I wrote to him telling him about the rooster and he said that he us going to edit out the background sounds.

    1. I cannot edit this one because it's already uploaded but on my new videos I edited it and no background sounds.
