JM Lisondra's 16 Years of Painting Journeys

I just wanted to share my journeys of painting from year 2000 to 2016. I started when I was 14 years old. My first medium was acrylic and I started oil painting last 2011. I was inspired by the landscape works of local artist Boy Velara and learn some techniques on him. I had a very slow progress because I only rely on history of art books and no internet during the first 3 years. Days, weeks or months I discovered something new and experimenting techniques.

I was amazed by some of the works copied from my youtube tutorials especially those who said that it's their first attempts. They did really amazing jobs. I can clearly see that you are better than me. I would like to congratulate you all.

Thank you for watching!

  1. Wow!!!! Even when you were just starting, your immense talent was shown!! And I can't believe your genuine generosity in sharing your talent, in it's purest form. I've just started learning how to paint, through Youtube and old art books from thrift stores. My doctors and counsellors suggested that I express myself through art. I resisted at first. But I heeded and found it very relaxing and filling. You inspired me so much! I loved how you showed good old Filipino culture too. Thank you for showing us that we are all artists within.

    1. thank you very much Isa.. I really appreciate it. I am really glad you are into art now. That's a good choice.. Even me for 17 years, this work still gives me excitements and relaxation. Just continue learning and have fun painting always.. You're always welcome and thank you 🙂

  2. Your work is amazing. I use to believe a little of that, "Everyone has talent, it just takes practice". However, after seeing the progress you made from 2001 to 2002 and since, ,shows me it was in you just waiting. The people you paint show personality and feeling that I've never seen short of from "The Masters'. I have followed art my whole life. I'm 66, my love for art started at 5 yrs old when I painted my parent's bedroom furniture with mom's fingernail polish. Man they sure thought I had talent. I can tell you, you have a talent that is beyond special. Thank you for sharing and helping others. You are obviously a very special person in many ways.

    1. you're welcome Kathryn.. thank you very much for that wonderful comment... Yes, art is my life and I can't live without it. It's my way of living now to this chaotic world. I really wanted to teach and share because I also learn it for free. Thanks again Kathryn and have a nice day.. 🙂

  3. I have read your story and love your natural talents! I just started acrylic painting for the VERY first time. I have so many disappointing moments! I can't hold the brushes right and I am a mess! Painting acrylic is such a very difficult thing to learn, at least for me. 🙂 I started going to painting night events alone and I went 3 times! Not many of my friends like to do acrylic but I think is fun but you have to have patience to learn the techniques. I saw instructional videos on youtube and I found yours! I have subscribe and I am gonna watch your videos and try to learn as much as I can.! Thank you for sharing your talents.

  4. i really really love your subjects...they're my style of art...btw how did learn painting and when did you decide to paint or what encouraged you?

    1. thank you Sam.... I really love to draw when I was young before I could still remember and I started painting when I was 14 on the year 2000 when I saw 2 paintings brought by my father from a local artist. That night I decided to paint.

  5. No habia mirado este video .como te habia mencinado antes tiene poco q te sigo, exelente trayectoria!!!👏👏😊👍🏼👍🏼

  6. Oh my goodness, John. Thank you for this. To watch your growth over the years has been fascinating. Your portraits are remarkable as is everything else. Thank you for sharing so much with us.

  7. You are so talented...your paintings are beautiful. I hope you share all your paintings with the world!

  8. Beautiful. I subscribed to your channel because I believe you will teach me the techniques I need to learn to be a better artist.
