  1. I hope you can make a tutorial on this using acrylic. I love your paintings sir! It all looks real. I actually painted a koi today and followed your vid. So far, i'm satisfied with the outcome of my painting. Continue teaching and inspiring others. You're a great artist 🙂

  2. These houses are looking so cute! I want smoking chimneys...getting it warm inside for the dwellers 🙂

  3. Hello john, i'm an oil painter but i just started using acrylic paint and i would like to know what type of acrylic paint you use, i would really appreciate if you could tell me, thank you!

    1. i use reeves and liquitex basics and some other student grade acrylics... very much welcome

  4. Hi John. Tanong ko lang... I know that it's good for an artist to be versatile, but if you were to choose between acrylics and oil... ano pipiliin mo?? And why?

    1. sorry for late response Maam Malou... oil po talaga favorite ko... mas madali lang ang acrylic kasi natutuyo agad.

  5. Another beautiful painting, John. How do you like the oil paints? I don't have time yet to watch your tutorial video; but I'll be watching tonight or tomorrow. Did you block in with acrylics first; then use the fixative or whatever it's called that you spray over it, once the acrylic paint is dry before you start painting the oil over the acrylics? My other favorite painter, Chuck Black does that especially when he wants the bright part to stand out and pop to make his paintings come alive. They are so beautiful. Your paintings are so beautiful, too. I'm pretty sure that the spray is an acrylic fixative that he sprays over them before he starts painting with acrylics. It works out good too because if he get paint on small areas that trying to paint but he doesn't want it on certain spots then he can just use a tool to wipe the paint off that he doesn't want and because the oil doesn't dry fast like the acrylics do; it really works good. Happy painting John you're one of the best of the best; you and Chuck are good as my brother; although, my brother's are special to me; so of course, my late brother's are the very best. You and Chuck, oh, and Micheal are a close second. Michael also blocks in with acrylics and then paints oils over part or all when they want something to POP OUT. Happy Painting, John. I'll be watching.

I made a mistake here I'd like to correct.
It's supposed to say: I'm pretty sure that the spray is an acrylic fixative that he sprays over them before he starts painting with OILS.

    1. you're welcome Debby... Yes he was right, just believe that you can do it and your hands will do the work. It might be a little confusing at first, but all you need to do is to figure out how to do it at first. Then after that everything will be easy, just like how Bob Ross paint his happy little trees. 🙂

    2. Thank you, John, And YES, you are absolutely right; my brother is happy with God now; that was his greatest belief so, I know he is. He gave me some brushes a few years before he died and kept telling me to try painting but I didn't believe in myself, at the time. I think that everyone should try what they love but don't believe that they could do it because I believe that they really can; they just have to get it out of their heads that they can't. I hope others read this so that maybe, just maybe they will try, too; and see that they can enjoy the relaxing, fun, creative art, whatever that is for themselves.

    3. thank you very much Debby.. sorry for my late response.. been busy with commissions lately. I used oil paints for my under painting. I tried to use acrylic before and it's also good especially when I don't have that much of time. but for most, i used burnt sienna for undercoats. Yes Michael and Chuck are really good artists and of course your brother is the best. Sorry for your lost Debby. I know He is happy now with God. Thanks again Debby. really appreciate your comments.. 🙂 Happy painting 🙂
