I have been painting since last few months .. so am I right in concluding that to paint animals or humans first step is to place the darks and lights as undercoat ?

it's normal tanu.. I've been there sometimes. You just have to find some inspirations or work on other things that make you stay away from paints and if you feel like you want to paint again then it's time to grab your brush paint.
