JM Lisondra's 16 Years of Painting Journeys

I just wanted to share my journeys of painting from year 2000 to 2016. I started when I was 14 years old. My first medium was acrylic and I started oil painting last 2011. I was inspired by the landscape works of local artist Boy Velara and learn some techniques on him. I had a very slow progress because I only rely on history of art books and no internet during the first 3 years. Days, weeks or months I discovered something new and experimenting techniques.

I was amazed by some of the works copied from my youtube tutorials especially those who said that it's their first attempts. They did really amazing jobs. I can clearly see that you are better than me. I would like to congratulate you all.

Thank you for watching!

  1. your so lucky to live in a place like that its so beautifull and you have become so skilled in such a short time very nice

    1. thank you very much Yasmin... I like to live in a place close to nature rather than on cities..

  2. Hi John. Your growth as an artist is really impressive... especially since you're self-taught. That's pure talent right there... ang galing! Painting is a very effective and fulfilling way of self expression and I'm glad that you have chosen this particular visual art to share your thoughts and feelings. Your paintings make powerful statements. They tell beautiful stories... and you tell them so well. I hope everyone realizes that when they buy your paintings, they're not just buying a decoration for their wall. They're actually getting a part of yourself... your culture... your mind and your ideas. I love your work. Keep painting!

  7. What an amazing journey John! Your 2001 horses are so beautiful. Thanks for letting us have a glimpse of phillippines rural life through your art. You did 2 paintings of men carrying a hut like thing which is bit like palanquin.wondering what it is.
I've watched numerous artists videos on YouTube but I must say,you are very unique with so much modesty, talent and sincerity.
Thank you very much for sharing.

    1. +John Wow...heart-warming! World would be a better place if we all help each other . Thnq for your reply John.

    2. You're welcome Kiran... The men carrying a hut, we call it here "Bayanihan". It's an act of cooperation to transfer one's house to another place. Most people here who live in the rural area can't afford to disassemble and reassemble their houses on other place so the neighbors will help to carry it without any payments. A gallon of local wine would be enough for them. I witnessed it myself before and they seem really happy and tired 🙂

Thank you for your wonderful words Kiran...:)
