The exhibition, which proudly opened its doors on May 18th and ran vibrantly until the end of the month, was a dream realized. "PintaPasiugda," a name that resonates deeply with us, translates to "the beginning of painting" or the genesis of creation. It perfectly encapsulates the spirit of this inaugural event – a fresh start, a collective first step onto the local stage, showcasing the raw passion and diverse talents nurtured right here in Guihulngan.
Our group's name, Guihulngan Kampana Artists, carries a piece of our city's soul. "Kampana" means bell, and it harks back to a poignant local history – a tale of a significant bell, stolen by pirates and tragically cast into our ocean depths. Though the physical bell may be lost to the sea, its echo resounds in our name, a symbol of our enduring identity, our resilience, and our commitment to letting the voice of Guihulngan's art ring out loud and clear.
"PintaPasiugda" was a testament to this voice. The exhibition hall became a vibrant tapestry of creativity, featuring an incredible array of artworks. Visitors were treated to the rich hues of acrylic paintings, the timeless depth of oil paintings, the evocative shades of charcoal drawings, and even the tangible forms of sculpture. Each piece told a story, each artist shared a fragment of their vision, contributing to a collective narrative of Guihulngan's burgeoning art scene.
This landmark event would not have been possible without the incredible artists who poured their hearts and souls onto canvases, paper, and into clay. We are immensely proud to showcase the works of:
The response from our community has been heartwarming, and the support for local art has been truly inspiring. "PintaPasiugda" was more than just an exhibition; it was a celebration of our heritage, our present creativity, and our bright artistic future.
As the final artworks are carefully taken down and the exhibition hall doors close on this inaugural chapter, we, the Guihulngan Kampana Artists, are filled with immense gratitude and even greater excitement for what lies ahead. This is just the "Pasiugda," the beginning. The bell of Guihulngan art has been rung, and we can't wait to see how its echoes will shape the cultural landscape of our home city.
Thank you to everyone who came, supported, and celebrated with us. The journey of "PintaPasiugda" has truly just begun!
