  1. Such a great job showing and explaining how you work. I love cherry blossoms and this is one of my favorite out of all your painting tutorials. Thank you.

    • you’re welcome and thanks again Bobby.

  2. Is it mandatory to use gesso or prime the canvas before painting ? Btw nice painting

    • Thank u

    • For me it’s yes. Without the prime, canvas will absorb all the paints and it’s very wasteful. It also protect the canvas from decaying.

  3. If you ever have the chance I am yearning to learn how to paint sun rays coming through the clouds.

    • yes sure.. that will be a good subject..

  4. I followed your tutorial for my second painting ever and it came out amazing. 13 hrs to your one, but your relaxed teaching helped this novice persevere. Thank you

    • you’re welcome Adah.. that’s great! keep learning.. thank you

  5. Merci beaucoup john

    • De rien Marie-Rose

    • you’re welcome… I’m sorry but I don’t have reference on this. I am painting from imagination

  14. thank you

  15. great, very beautifulšŸ‘šŸ‘

  16. I am a huge fan and simply adore your paintings, and watch your videos in bed instead of television, hoping to emulate your talent. This morning, the closed caption option came on accidentally, and I was stunned at the poor job it did. These examples are what you actually said, and how the closed caption interpreted it:
Titanium white, pthalo blue – Tandem white-collar blow
    Colors – Horse
    Brushes – Process
    Fan brush – Fun brush
    Number seven – Never Sarah
I’m using chalk – I miss your job
    My canvas – May converse
    Stapled – Step on
All of this in the first 2.5 minutes! Obviously I have no trouble understanding you and don’t normally even have CC on, but I though you should be aware of this in case you are paying someone for this service. If you are, you might want to consider changing providers, lol. It’s so bad as to be comical, but also very distracting. In closing, I sincerely thank you for sharing your wonderful paintings and tutorials. I hope I gave no offense in bringing this to your attention…that was certainly not my intention.

    • Thanks for the sweet reply. I’m still enjoying your art and hope you keep making the great videos!

    • Hello Julie. That’s actually really funny. It’s the auto caption program of youtube. I did try to turn it on before and yes the caption mess up. And I think It was not the fault of this program. It was my accent, it doesn’t understand me, lol!… It’s okay no worries… Maybe I just need to the caption myself to correct it. :)
