I’ve been following along but I can’t seem to achieve the same delicate strokes as you… I’m wondering if perhaps my canvas is too bumpy or maybe the paint/water isn’t the right consistency, also when I apply the paint it doesn’t last long.. I also did prime the canvas but I think its just a bad canvas. I might try to paint on wood next time. Great vid though I’m learning a lot.

    • Thanks, I didn’t have any blank canvases around and decided to re-prime over the top of a printed canvas… I’ve read this might be a bad idea. I understand I need to practice the strokes also but when I can’t even achieve a single correct stroke, it’s kind of hard to know what to aim for. The painting is turning out good in terms of depth and colour, but the vegetation looks less defined than I’d have liked. Also I find myself correcting a lot of mistakes but that comes with being a beginner. Love your work though John especially your colour usage I will keep practising.

    • just practice on the proper use of your paint on canvas.. the amount of water to add and the strokes..

  8. A wonderful feeling of easiness while watching this but with my brain I find it so easy to get off track. I trully enjoyed it and thanks for not seeing the need for repetitive repartee.
