  13. Firstly, I just want to say thank you for all the beautiful tutorials you post. Your paintings are just amazing!… I see you always use the same colours to mix. Just a quick question. Can I use vermilion, true red or berry red as a substitute for brilliant red? And is true yellow ok as well? Also do I have to apply gesso if I bought a canvas tht has already been primed? Thank you in advance.

    • @A Google User you’re welcome :)

    • @Art of John Magne Lisondra Okay I try that. Thank you for taking the time to respond and assist me🌟

    • @A Google User if you bought canvas from store…. it’s already primed.. just try to check it if it’s too rough then you can add 1 more layers or you can sand it with sandpaper to make it smooth

    • @Art of John Magne Lisondra Thank You so much im so excited to try. I learn a lot from your tutorials….and how about the canvas? If it has been primed, are the 3 coats gesso still an essential?

    • you’re welcome… I think true red and yellow red is good.. but I do not know vermillion and berry red.. just try to compare if it can produce good purple when mix to blue and good green when mix to yellow… because it might be different and affect your color mixing.
