  1. Your rose is gorgeous, thank you for sharing. I saw you sketch the rose with chalk and then cover it completely with red. How do you know then, your sketch, what is underneath, where the center is and where the petals are? That confuses me.

    • you’re welcome… I just invented all the petal forms. The sketch was just to show what it should look like but not exactly. Anyway it was useless because I use chalk for sketching. The paints will just cover it up.

    could you please do a rose in yellow on a video.?

    What colours do I use to paint a yellow rose.

    • you can play the yellow with little amount of red, black and white

  8. Hi John .. just want to ask you ~ I noticed that you always mentioned you primed your canvas with 3 coats of Gesso , do I have to do that with my canvas , because I always buy a pre -gesso canvas… just wandering?

    • I think you don’t have to. I made my canvas so I need to primed it… I always do 3 coats for smoother surface.

  19. hey john. I tried the rose. everything went well except when it came to the shading it got messed up. maybe I will try again soon. you make it look easy. lol

    • hello Paula.. It’s normal at first time… Just keep going.. You can retouch it if it looks not good… Anyway you can add more layers on acrylic since it dries fast….
