  1. Salamat for the very useful basic tutorials. I’m just beginning to paint with acrylics. You’ve got a grateful new subscriber from California USA!! :)

    • thank you very much Leynes :)

  2. Thanks John I learned something I didnt know adding highlights to the shadow side of the ball because of bouncing light from surrounding objects.

    • you’re welcome Shelia and thank you… Yes, it’s call defused reflections in science.

  3. hi please make vedio on how to use brushes

  4. not seen it yet…but if it is of the same standard as the others I know that I will enjoy, learn and be impressed as to how easy you make it look..I am in my 60’s and trying to learn painting from scratch with no drawing skills at all. Thx

    • mucha gracias amigo…sorry I live in Spain

    • so far.. all i know is that there is only one type of gesso.. not sure yet if there are others. you can use it to prime the canvas and to create textures for the painting.

    • do you have a video about types and uses of gesso ?

  5. Thank you John!

  6. Thank you very much for this helpful tutorial!! Also I have a question, does we have to put shade of color in the shadow based on the color of the object?

  7. Thank you John. I appreciate your teaching. (And I miss the rooster.)

    • you’re welcome Lynn.. thank you.. I used noise cancelling microphone.. and some noises cannot be heard like the roosters..

  8. Hello, can you show how you place the camera and how do you do the camera rig ? i would be really really gratefull ,awesome video!!!! thank you!

    • I used a tripod and just point it into my canvas… I think it’s not hard..

  9. colors on my pallete dry under 10 minutes or early is there a tip for this

    • Or you can make your own wet pallet.

    • just add small amounts to avoid wasting it.

  10. Can you please write the name of colours which you use for painting?

    • I wrote it in the beginning of the video..

  11. I am not able to listen the directions clearly because of poor audio quality!Anyway by watching the painting I followed it to an extent!

    • hello Geeta.. sorry about it… my microphone is not that good for recording.

  12. thank you too. hope you did not forget about painting a fawn.request lang. thanks

    • ah yes sorry… thank you for reminding me.. :)

  13. Good lesson. I do need to say that planning is always key to a successful class or video. This is about light and shadows not painting the actual figures. you spent 8 minutes just painting figures just to get to the purpose of this video. You should have had the figures already painted and started the video from that point. when are you going to paint a rooster?

    • thank you… I will try maybe soon..

  14. very useful tutorial. And thank you for demonstrating shadow vs reflexion.

  15. what type of paints did u use
