  13. Wow…this is all with just 4 colours(3,if we exclude white!) .i’m sure paint selling companies will hate you for spoiling their business šŸ˜€ Hope you do more and more portraits John with different skin tones and hair colours.it’s always my dream to be able to paint my children’s faces and your tutorial surely made me feel optimistic about it.

    • Still uses same amount of professional paints
Red is most expensive, the yellow, I believe

    • Redina Bloogs yes if you know colour theory and mixing colours well then you can get a wide range of colours from your main primary’s and shades with black and white. It’s also about your values, contrast and highlights. A lot of YouTube artists are great but pedal products and get many people buying their preferred brands in any select medium which can become extremely expensive. Some even have their own custom brushes which I think is just complete BS. If you learn the techniques of painting properly I don’t think you need a customised brush for clouds etc. I think too much is being wasted on product and branding rather than proper techniques and good colour theory, the true fundamentals of art.

    • ive never understood why all the artist on youtube need so many diff colours i have always just brought red, blue, yellow , white and black …that is all the colours u need …as u mix every other colour from them ….all this obsession with people needing to know the name of every colour the artist is using …. the only colours u ever need are red, blue, yellow and white that’s it ! u dont even really need black. as far as i can tell its propaganda for the paint companies …just practice mixing colours …its not hard ….practice with cheap kids paint if ur worried about wasting the good stuff. its really not as hard as people seem to think.

    • thank you Kiran.. yes it’s posible with just 4 colors.. Just keep learning.. :)

    • Thank you so much for sharing your skill with us.

  14. I am an abstract..land/sea/scape..impression artist..I suck at portraits…but you Sir are fabulous!!!!!
